Amtek has successfully updated the Shell Haven e-learning induction
system, creating new content to run on the 'FLEXeLEARN' e-learning
platform used across the Shell UK IT environment.
Trevor Hughes, Operations Support Technologist at the site
commented: "Shell Haven Oils Site has been using a computer
based safety induction learning system solely developed and
installed by Amtek Learning Systems since 2000. However, in
late 2007 following a number of site changes and developments
in Shell's Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives, the
time was right for a substantial update.
"Amtek were asked to review the new requirements combined
with the Shell Group's IT supported software to produce a new
fit for purpose induction system capable of processing up to
ten new persons to site at one sitting. The new system provides
site inductions for Contractors and Tanker Drivers plus a training
package for the site's Authorised Applicants, a pivotal position
in the site's Permit to Work System.
"The new induction and training system required significant
new video, schematics and a completely new voice-over undertaken
successfully with site staff feedback and integrated with ongoing
operations. It was commissioned in mid 2008 and is managed on
a daily basis by the Site's Security staff.
"Amtek Learning System's management of the project was
a total success. The new facility has been both cost effective
and easily upgradeable to cater with future changes in HSE requirements
and initiatives."
Amtek's Managing Director, Graham Meek, added "We are
delighted to add the skills for development within the FLEXeLEARN
environment to our capabilities and look forward to using this
technology to meet future customer needs"
